Why do you need this Qualification?
The Real Estate sector requires well-trained and knowledgeable professionals to meet their clients’ demands. To make sure that all agents are equipped for this function the Department of Trade and Industry introduced a Real Estate Qualification in June 2008.
All agents are required by law to achieve this Qualification at NQF level 4 and Principals at NQF L5 by December 2011 if they want to practise as real estate agents in this country.
The Further Education and Training Certificate: Real Estate and National Certificate: Real Estate is designed to provide people involved in the field with a sound academic understanding of the business.
Once you have completed this qualification, you can get involved in a wide variety of Real Estate opportunities such as real estate sales, brokerage and leasing, property management, institutional real estate investment, real estate consulting and real estate development.
The qualification will become a prerequisite for admission to the professional examination for estate agents, to be conducted by the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB). Once the agent has successfully completed the qualification and the EAAB examination he or she will be registered as a non-principal estate agent by the Estate Agency Affairs Board.
Learners working towards this qualification will find that it adds value to their understanding of the sector and functioning in the workplace. The qualification is intended to improve the provision of entry-level services within the Property and Real Estate sector. It will provide the broad knowledge, skills and values needed for the sector.
