Through recognition of prior learning (RPL)
ARE YOU EXPERIENCED IN THE REAL ESTATE ENVIRONMENT AND LOOKING FOR RECOGNITION IN THE INDUSTRY?
For the experienced estate agent we recommend Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning is what it says it is: a way in which agents can get recognition for past experience, without having to start a course from scratch. To get this recognition the agent has to provide evidence of what they have done and learnt. The evidence will be compared to the requirements set by the qualification. If enough evidence exists that you can do and know what is required in the qualification you will be awarded the qualification, without having to do the full course. The team of trainers at iSeleSele Property Academy have developed a structured set of assignments which will guide you through this process. There are four booklets with a number of tasks in them, which will ensure that all the evidence you need to show is collected. What’s more, the RPL option is much cheaper than going for training. We will also help you to complete an application to the Services SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) who may provide grants for this process.
THE RPL PROCESSSTEP 1 Complete an iSeleSele Property Academy application form, which states your interest in participating in the RPL process.
Apply at the Services SETA for a grant. If the application is rejected you will have to find an alternative source of funding.
The agency or learner agrees to proceed with the RPL. A Service Level Agreement or Request for RPL is signed by parties and dates are set to embark on the process.
STEP 4 iSeleSele Property Academy conducts a workshop to prepare learner(s) for the RPL process. We agree deadlines for submission dates and schedule dates for contact sessions.
STEP 5 The learner gathers evidence for the first module.
We organise the first contact session with an assessor, who reviews evidence gathered to date; provides any advice needed; deals with obstacles encountered; and makes sure you are ready for the RPL assessment.
There should be four contact sessions – one on completion of each module.
If the learner has had a Fidelity Certificate for five years no further examination or assessment is required.
If the learner has not yet had a Fidelity Certificate for five concurrent years, he or she will have to complete a summative assessment set by the Estate Agents Affairs Board.
This process is learner-driven and we will reach agreement on how often to have contact sessions. We recommend that the agent embarking on this process should aim to complete it in eight weeks, thus completing one of the four modules every two weeks.
